  2. do you generally ask permission in situations like this? or just do it and ask questions later…

    • In none of these have I asked permission, simply shoot and go. From what I have read, it sort of goes against the Street Photography “Ethos” to ask, because what results is a image which changes the nature and appearance of the image and looks “posed”. Sometimes I shoot in total sniper mode, simply camera up, shoot, down, walk away. No eye contact or words. Other times I stand there trying to look like a total tourist fumbling with my camera, making adjustments, shoot, etc. I still get super nervous, and more often then not let good shots go untaken because I don’t yet have the iron nerve that comes with experience (I think I have shot “Street” 3 times now).
